About the event

The Too Long in the Lobby exhibition brings together work by four artists exploring their different responses to the waiting and uncertainty of the past year of lockdowns and global pandemic. The lobby for them is the in-between space suggestive of the shifting of everyday life into an uncanny, isolated experience where perspectives, processes, and methods in their practices also shift.

The show brings to light the small stories and glimpses of the ordinary lives of four female artists that have subtly shifted, tilted and skewed their familiar perception of the world.

The audience is invited to experience relationships between these themes through the playful and comic oak sculptures of Caroline Saunders; the vibrant colour, surrealism and absurdity of objects in paintings by Amanda Jewell and Rosalind Bason; and the projected dream-like interiors and landscapes in Frankie Williams’ films.
