Concertina Book - The format of the concertina or accordion book is a simple yet effective way to communicate a multitude of ideas as the structure lends itself to storytelling. A simple book can be made in time, allowing the maker to fill the book with numerous ideas. Some dexterity with precision measuring and cutting using a scalpel is essential.
Pamphlet books are an easy way to create a unique book which can contain a number of pages. Some dexterity with measuring , cutting and needle and thread is essential. Creative variations on the basic form can be explored if time allows.
Siobhan is a book artist, printmaker and mixed media maker. Siobhan's interest in book art started during a session taken by a colleague in the FE college where they were both teaching. This exciting approach to creating art combined Siobhan's love of books and making art which culminated in the completion of an MA in Books Arts at UAL Camberwell School of art. The varied and creative formats used by book artists can be an exciting way to explore and present an array of ideas, many of which can be experimental in nature.
