The Team of RIGHT OF WAY by Beth Bowden invite you to join them for a free creative workshop at MakeTank Exeter that will kickstart conversations about disability, chronic illness, and the experiences of young carers.
This workshop is part of the creative residency we are holding for the project, and will provide a chance for both creative expression and discussion through the following:
- An open space style discussion session to spark dialogue about the lack of support, benefits, and funding for disability, carers, and those with chronic illness in Devon.
- Provide a creative outlet for these discussions through collaborative exercises, undertaken both individually and as a group. We will look at ways of unlocking your creativity and introduce you to the themes of the project. What is your story? What is our collective story?
- Respond to the show's themes of accessibility, chronic illness, grief, joy, and the South West landscape. What is it like to inhabit the South West landscape? Particularly seated in the context of life after the COVID-19 lockdowns.
The content of the workshop is likely to include guided discussion, free writing, and creative responses (subject to change). We'll finish the workshop with dedicated time for networking, giving you the opportunity to connect with other South West artists / your future collaborators!
This workshop will be facilitated for people/artists with experience of disability/caring/chronic illness in mind - but if you do not fall specifically into these categories, and would still like to attend, you are more than welcome to join us! We welcome all creativity, experience with any art forms, and recognise that 'early career' can refer to people at all stages in their life.
If we can make any adjustments, in order to facilitate your experience in the space, please indicate this on the form below - and we will endeavour to make these where possible. COVID-19 secure protocols will be in place, such as increased ventilation and access to free hand sanitiser / masks.
The space is wheelchair and buggy accessible (although accessible toilets are across the street) and refreshments will be provided.
Please fill out the form at the sign up link above and we will be in touch via email to confirm your spot!
